Claudina Rodrigues-Pousada, NOVA's Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier former researcher, received the "Science Merit Award", as a recognition for her outstanding contribution to science. Her work has focused on Cellular Metabolism, Signal Transduction, Genomic and Computational Biology. Recently she has been interested in deciphering how organisms confronted with several environmental cues are able to regulate their gene expression in order to maintain proper homeostatic control and in understanding how stress-responsive genes are activated at the level of transcription.
The award ceremony took place on 4th of July 2016 during the opening session of Ciência 2016 conference in Lisbon.
