Workshop Cities of the Future / Desertification

According to the United Nations, 70% of the world’s population will be living in urban areas by 2050. So what will happen to the natural world? How will we transport ourselves? What are the health and safety challenges? Where will we grow our food? How will we power our homes and offices?

To discuss some of these questions, NOVA Doctoral School is organizing the Workshop Cities of the Future / Desertification that will take place on June 28 at the Rectorate of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. In line with the mission of the Doctoral School, the workshop is conceived to promote an intense and interdisciplinary debate and to foster the creation of synergies between researchers from different areas that can provide the tools needed to approach such complex problems.

The workshop will consist of two sessions with the same format: a series of short oral presentations (15 minutes each) and a poster session followed by a discussion.

Researchers and PhD students are welcome to submit abstracts for the poster sessions.

Use this link to register and optionally to submit your poster abstract. The workshop is free of charge, but registration is required.

Deadline for abstract submission: June 21st.
