Nuno Júdice received Queen Sofia Prize

This is a distinction which worths 42.100 euros delivered by the Spanish National Heritage and University of Salamanca. Nuno Jádice is the second Portuguese to receive this award by the whole of his poetry and its contribution for the cultural heritage of iberoamerican community.

The jury, composed of 18 personalities related to philology, literature and literary essay, has considered the award-winning as author of a "very elaborate poetry, of a keen classicism" with great commitment to reality.

Nuno Jádice is published in more than a dozen of languages and he is author of 30 books of poetry, beyond a wide experience in fiction, essays and dramatic text. He is professor on the department of Modern Languages, Cultures and Literature of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of NOVA University of Lisbon (FCSH/NOVA) and coordinator of the PhD programme in Languages, Literatures and Culture. This renowned national author maintains activity as sub-coordinator in the Traditional Literature Research Institute (IELT), research unit of the Faculty.
