Romeu Costa

Romeu Costa is an actor, director, and theatre teacher. He began his professional career in 2000, having studied at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (ESTC), and has worked with the most relevant directors and theatre companies in Portugal. He has been teaching theatre at Escola Técnica de Imagem e Comunicação (ETIC) and Escola Superior de Tecnologias e Artes de Lisboa (ESTAL). With Grupo de Teatro do Oprimido de Lisboa and with the cinema production company Vende-se Filmes - Li Ke Terra, Romeu Costa has developed specific techniques for preparing non-actors for theatre performances. Together with Joana Lobo Antunes and David Marçal he founded CQD, a non for profit cultural association devoted to linking Science and Theater. He has directed several plays with scientists as performers, and has been responsible for the stage direction of Cientistas de Pé, a stand-up comedy show with scientists and about science. He has also conducted workshops for professors and researchers, using theatrical improvisation techniques to improve communication skills.
