SDG 1 - No Poverty

ODS 1 - Erradicar a pobreza

Nova University Lisbon's contribution to tackle the SDG 1 goes beyond research. The Social Welfare Services guarantee that no student is excluded from the university due to financial difficulties, offering support, benefits, and services to improve their possibilities for educational success. NOVA’s Academic Units also have their own support funds for students. NOVA also engages with several impactful projects, supporting the social sector with knowledge and volunteering.

- Support funds:

  • NOVAFRICA is a Knowledge Center at Nova SBE committed to producing applied research to reduce poverty and promote economic growth.
  • The Social Leapfrog Program is a pioneer reflection and capacitation program for up to 10 social hybrid organizations (organizations with a clear social mission that also generate their own revenues through the sale of products and services). The program aims to promote a space for reflection and knowledge transfer over the course of 3 years.
  • Through "Saúde Porta a Porta", students from Nova Medical School visit old people in their houses on a regular basis. They monitor health indicators and identify major issues in this population with basic social and economic needs.

NOVA's 9 Academic Units develop programs and initiatives with direct impact in our community. Get in touch, participate!
