SDG 1 - No Poverty

INITIATIVES

At NOVA, we want to ensure that no student is left behind. We believe that Education plays one of the most crucial roles in contributing to poverty reduction. NOVA University Lisbon contributes to tackle the SDG1, with initiatives including, but not limited to:

• The Social Welfare Services (SASNOVA) guarantee that no student is excluded from the university due to financial difficulties. This is done through support, benefits and services, so as to better the students’ possibility for educational success.
   
• In addition to SASNOVA Scholarships, NOVA’s Academic Units have their own support funds:
  
  • NOVA FCSH -  Patrons – ESTUDAR+ scholarships
  • Nova SBE - beNOVA Scholarship
  • NOVA Direito - Emergency Fund for Tuition Fees
     
• Community anti-poverty activities are also key focus at NOVA:
  
  • FCT NOVA - Food Bank campaign
  • NMS|FCM - Saúde Porta a Porta
  • NMS|FCM - MarcaMundos

As examples, get to know the Pobreza Infantil - Conhecer para Intervir (Child Poverty - Knowing to Intervene) project at NOVA FCSH and the NOVAFRICA Knowledge Center at Nova SBE, committed to producing applied research to reduce poverty and promote economic growth.
