SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Nova University Lisbon actively contributes to tackle the SDG 9 through research, and by challenging and enabling the NOVA Community to think about innovation and start-ups that may have a positive and long-term impact on society. It actively promots entrepreneurship and value creation, encouraging the formalization and growth of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises.   • Singularity University is a global learning and innovation community using exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges. Its collaborative platform empowers individuals and organizations across the globe to learn, connect, and innovate breakthrough solutions using accelerating technologies like artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital biology. It offers educational programs, courses, and summits; enterprise strategy, leadership, and innovation programs; programs to support and scale startups and promote social impact; and online news and content. SBE is a country partner.
  • European Innovation Academy is a non-profit organization that promotes capacitation of future entreprenerus and digital growth of companies. It is recognized as a leader in the area of education for tech entrepreneurship. In Portugal, the initiative had its first edition in 2017 and NOVA is an academic partner.   • NOVA TechShip is a single hub for all the entrepreneurship activities and opportunities ongoing at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, re-inventing university education by bringing together academics and entrepreneurs.

ERC Grant project,  DIGISMART is a Multifunctional Digital Materials Platform for Smart Integrated Applications. DIGISMART aims to revolutionize the way in which integrated circuits and electronic components are made, without using silicon, while simultaneously exploiting eco-friendly materials with exceptional properties at nano scale.





B-LigZymes is an international, interdisciplinary and intersectorial platform that directly addresses current limitations in lignin degradation by generating technological and economical solutions inspired by fundamental research.
