Inês Cardoso Pereira, D.Phil. is Principal Investigator at Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica (ITQB) – Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where she heads the Bacterial Energy Metabolism Laboratory.
She did her PhD in Oxford and returned to Portugal for a Post-doc at ITQB. Her research interests include the study of bacterial bioenergetics and the use of anaerobic microorganisms and enzymes thereof for biological hydrogen production and capture of carbon dioxide. She has been Coordinator of the PhD Program at ITQB since 2008 and is currently Director of the PhD Program in Molecular Biosciences.
She was the Head of the Biological Chemistry Division of ITQB from 2011 to 2013, and is currently a member of the Institute Council. She is a member of the Editorial Board of PLOS One, BMC Microbiology, Frontiers in Microbiology and Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry.
