Inês Cardoso Pereira, D.Phil. is Full professor and Vice-Dean of the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier (ITQB NOVA) – Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where she heads the Bacterial Energy Metabolism Laboratory.
She did her PhD in Oxford and returned to Portugal for a Post-doc at ITQB. Her research interests include the study of bacterial bioenergetics and the use of anaerobic microorganisms and enzymes thereof for biological hydrogen production and carbon dioxide reduction. She was the Coordinator of the PhD Program at ITQB from 2008-11 and Director of the PhD Program in Molecular Biosciences in 2012-14. She was the Head of the Biological Chemistry Division of ITQB from 2011 to 2013, member of the Pedagogical Council 2010-14, member of the Scientific Council 2006-09 and 2011-13, and member of the Institute Council 2013-14. She is Vice-Dean of ITQB since 2014. She is a member of the Editorial Board of PLOS One, BMC Microbiology, Frontiers in Microbiology and Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry.
