Helena holds a MD, PhD and Habillitation in Medicine from Faculdade de Medicina, Universidade de Lisboa. She is also Master in Medical Sciences (Clinical Investigation) by Harvard Medical School, University of Harvard, Boston, USA.
She is currently invited full professor of epidemiology and clinical research at Nova Medical School and School of Public Health, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Head of EpiDoC Unit, CEDOC.
She is also senior consultant of rheumatology (CHLN-Hospital de Santa Maria); Chief medical officer at Patient Innovation, Catolica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics, Vice-President of Portuguese Society of Rheumatology and Vice-President of the patient association Liga Portuguesa Contra as Doenças Reumáticas.
Author and co-author of various books and book chapters and of 154 research papers indexed in PubMed/Medline. Principal investigator and national coordinator of several clinical trials and research projects. National representative at the EULAR’s Epidemiology Standing Committee and at the EULAR’s Registries and Observational Studies, Co-PI of EpiReumaPt and Board member of Reuma.pt.
