Vasco Trigo is a professional journalist (radio, television, press) since 1984 and, since 2001, also a journalism teacher in higher education institutes. He trained as a journalist at Columbia University in New York, graduated in statistics and information management at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, has an MBA in Audiovisual and Multimedia by the Haute École ICHEC in Brussels, and is currently working on his PhD in Sociology at ISCTE. Vasco Trigo started as a political journalist and, since 1996, coordinates and presents television programs dedicated to Science, Technology and Innovation. He is regularly invited, both as a speaker and as a moderator, to discuss journalism and science communication. He has been distinguished for his work, namely by the Associação para a Promoção e Desenvolvimento da Sociedade da Informação (“Personalidade do Ano” award, 2009), by the science online magazine Ciência Hoje (“Seeds of Science” award in the category Communication, 2010), and by the municipality of Oeiras (Medalha de Mérito Municipal, 2012).
