At the proposal of the Rector of NOVA University Lisbon, and following the favourable opinion of the Board of Directors, the General Council of NOVA approved on 5th May the integration of the Estoril School of Hospitality and Tourism (ESHTE) into NOVA University Lisbon.
ESHTE is the leading higher education institution in the field of tourism and hospitality in Portugal, bringing consolidated knowledge in a strategic sector that represents around 15% of the national GDP. Its integration will make it possible to create synergies between the scientific areas already consolidated at NOVA and the specialised skills of ESHTE.
This step will allow NOVA to strengthen its presence in a scientific and professional field with a strong economic, social and cultural impact: tourism as a global phenomenon that requires sustainable, digital and qualified solutions.
“After ISPA, the integration of ESHTE reinforces NOVA’s ambition to be a leading university in social and technological areas, as well as in those that combine science, culture, territory and economy”, stresses João Sàágua, Rector of NOVA.
