NOVA welcomes delegation from Zhejiang University to strengthen international academic cooperation

The visit of Zhejiang University (ZJU) to NOVA University Lisbon marked a significant step in strengthening international academic collaboration between two leading institutions. Renowned as one of China’s most prestigious universities, with a strong focus on science, technology, and innovation, ZJU expressed interest in establishing strategic partnerships with NOVA, particularly through short-term exchanges for students, faculty, and researchers. 

The ZJU delegation, received on 23 May, included Professor Ye Min, Vice President of the university’s Development Committee and Director of the Academic Committee of the Institute of China’s Science, Technology and Education Policy; Professor Hou Wanjun, Vice Dean of the same institute; Dr Chen Chan, Deputy Director of ZJU’s Policy Research Office; Dr Chen Guanghua, researcher at the institute; and Xia Bicao, research assistant. 

The delegation was welcomed by Prof. João Amaro de Matos, Vice-Rector for Education and International Development at NOVA and by representatives from NOVA Schools: Maria Cardeira da Silva, Vice- Dean for Internationalization at NOVA FCSH, Alexandra Fiéis and Prof. Joana Teixeira, both faculty members at the Linguistics Center also at NOVA FCSH, as well as Amilton Moreira from the Internationalisation Division. Representing NOVA FCT was Marina Marques, Head of the Internationalization and Mobility Office.

Several areas of mutual interest were identified during the meeting, and a general cooperation agreement between the two universities is currently being prepared.
