NOVA Hosts the MetaRed 2025 International Meeting

26 de June, 2025

On 26 and 27 June, NOVA University Lisbon will host the MetaRed 2025 International Meeting of Presidents and Rectors, a highly significant initiative for the Ibero-American higher education sector.

MetaRed currently brings together over 1,700 universities, fostering a cooperative ecosystem in strategic areas such as digital transformation (MetaRed TIC), university entrepreneurship (MetaRed X), and sustainability and social responsibility (MetaRed S).

More than just an institutional gathering, this moment marks a significant turning point, celebrating the power of global collaboration in addressing the challenges of an ever-changing world. As NOVA’s Rector, João Sàágua, emphasises:

“We believe that progress is only meaningful when it is shared, inclusive, and sustainable.”

NOVA currently holds the presidency of MetaRed S in Portugal, leading the coordination among national higher education institutions in building a more sustainable and socially responsible academic agenda.

This International Meeting is therefore more than a space for reflection and the exchange of best practices: it is a call to action, ambition, and collaborative innovation.

“We hope this meeting will build bridges, open new possibilities, and foster innovative solutions that strengthen our universities,” reinforces the Rector of NOVA — reaffirming the university’s commitment to a more collaborative, global, and future-ready academic community.
