NOVA University Lisbon has been awarded 5 Stars (“Excellent”) by the QS Stars University Ratings, one of the most recognized and prestigious international systems for evaluating higher education institutions.
NOVA achieved the maximum score in eight out of nine assessed dimensions — Teaching, Facilities, Employability, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Impact, Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, and Global Engagement — reflecting the University’s strong commitment to quality, excellence, and impact of its activities.
According to the official QS Stars website, NOVA now joins an elite circle of universities worldwide holding this seal of international excellence — one of only two in Portugal and among just over twenty across the European Union to achieve this global distinction.
In the QS Stars system, a 5-Star university is recognized for its global reputation, its ability to attract international students, and its state-of-the-art facilities that enable cutting-edge research projects of great national and international relevance. Such institutions also boast a highly qualified faculty, with academics from around the world, and innovative programmes that prepare students for successful careers across multiple sectors. For this reason, graduates from 5-Star universities are among the most sought-after by employers.
Earning the 5-Star distinction in the QS Stars University Ratings is a testament to NOVA’s overall quality, consistency, and international impact, as well as to the success of the academic projects developed by each of its Schools. Ultimately, it reaffirms NOVA’s position as a university of excellence dedicated to serving education, science, and society.
