Tiles, a Portuguese inheritance from the Arabs, became one of the most prestigious and visible features of Portugal’s interior decoration art from the 16th century onwards. In the 19th century and early 20th century, Lisbon was the scene of a huge urban renewal, following the need to expand the city. That paved the way to new aestheses, namely new approaches to the use of les. In this tour we will look for the novelty of urban solutions and the versatility of new applications in architecture.
