The gestures and movements of the human body allow us to tell stories without using words, taking advantage of another powerful dramatic resource: music. The two arts are linked in a logic of resonance, reflecting and reinforcing each other. The challenge of writing music to be danced has been masterfully taken up by the three composers in this concert:
- Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Swan Lake: “Waltz”; Nutcracker: “Danse des mirlitons” and “Adagio”: Swan Lake: “Finale
- Sergei Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet: “Dance No. 1” (Suite No. 1), “Dance No. 4” (Suite No. 2); “Montagues and Capulets No. 1” (Suite No. 2); “Young Juliet No. 2” (Suite No. 2); “Masks, No. 5” (Suite No. 1); “Romeo and Juliet No. 6” (Suite No. 1); “Death of Tybalt No. 7” (Suite No. 1)
- Aram Khachaturian Spartacus “Adagio from Spartacus and Phrygia No. 1” (Suite No. 2), Gayaneh “Saber Dance” (Suite No. 3)
