About José João Abrantes
José João Abrantes is a Full Professor at NOVA School of Law. On 26 April 2023, he was elected President of the Constitutional Court, a position which he assumed on 16 June 2023, becoming ex officio State Counselor.
A specialist in labour law, he is a member of several associations and scientific networks. He is also the Portuguese national expert for the European Labour Law Network, which assists the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission. He was Vice-President of APODIT (Portuguese Association of Labour Law) for seven years.
