Pro-Rector for Heritage, Infrastructure, and University Campuses
Catarina Fortuna Campos is an Architect and Professor at the Department of Architecture of the University of Coimbra, where she teaches in the Integrated Master’s Programme in Architecture. Her academic and professional work focuses on the rehabilitation and sustainable management of the architectural and infrastructural environment, integrating technical, cultural and strategic perspectives in the planning of complex infrastructures and heritage assets.
She holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Coimbra, where she completed her scientific training in 2005. Since 2008, she has combined teaching and professional practice in the areas of architectural design, construction and scenography. Over the past two decades, she has participated in numerous architectural and urban projects of public relevance — particularly in the conservation, adaptation and enhancement of historical buildings and university facilities —contributing to the articulation between design, research and public service.
Her professional trajectory includes extensive coordination with public and private entities, municipalities, heritage authorities, cultural associations and academic partners, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and the integration of sustainability principles in architectural and territorial development.
At NOVA University Lisbon, she serves as Pro-Rector for Heritage, Infrastructure and University Campuses, responsible for the strategic management of the University’s built environment, the supervision of its campus development plans, and the alignment of infrastructure policies with NOVA’s long-term vision for sustainability, quality and social impact.
