Elsa Peralta holds a PhD in Anthropology from the Technical University of Lisbon. She began her academic career as Assistant Professor at ISCSP-UTL and later held positions as a postdoctoral researcher at ICS-ULisboa, Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Manchester, and FLAD/Michael Teague Visiting Professor at Brown University, USA. Between 2015 and 2025, she was affiliated with the Centre for Comparative Studies at FLUL, where she coordinated the CITCOM research group – Citizenship, Culture, and Memory.
She is the author of an extensive body of scholarly work in the fields of memory studies, museology, heritage, and postcolonial history, published by leading international publishers and journals. She has taught and supervised advanced research in these areas.
Beyond academia, she is committed to fostering connections between science, culture, and society. She collaborates with artists, museums, and digital history platforms, and has taken on curatorial and exhibition coordination roles.
