Elsa Peralta

Pro-Rector for Culture, Social Impact, and Communities

Elsa Peralta holds a PhD in Anthropology (University of Lisbon) and is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of NOVA University Lisbon (FCSH-UNL). She has held academic positions at ISCSP-UTL, the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS-ULisboa), the University of Manchester, and Brown University (USA). Between 2015 and 2025, she was a Senior Researcher at the Center for Comparative Studies (FLUL), where she coordinated the Citizenship, Culture, and Memory (CITCOM) research group and led several funded projects. She is the author of extensive scientific work in the areas of memory, museology, heritage, and postcolonial history, published in leading international publishers and journals, and has taught and supervised advanced research in these fields. Beyond academia, she favors the articulation between science, culture, and society, collaborating with artists, museums, and digital history platforms, as well as curating and coordinating exhibitions.
