Connected Communities: Visit by delegation from EUTOPIA Alliance partner university reinforces transnational collaboration

26 de May, 2025

A delegation of six students and one lecturer from Babes-Bolyai University, Romania, visited NOVA School of Law for the final session of a course held within the framework of the Connected Community Ocean Challenges, an initiative of the EUTOPIA European University, coordinated by NOVA.

Taught by Professor and also Secretary-General of the Ocean Forum Ruben Eiras, the course “Financing Sustainable Blue Economy and Integration of Policies and Development”, part of the Master’s in Law and Economics of the Sea – Ocean Governance, was designed to give both local and international students an in-depth understanding of the maritime economy and the policies shaping its sustainable development in global and European contexts.

The course was delivered in a hybrid format, with synchronous sessions enabling active participation from the Romanian students throughout the semester, culminating in their visit to Lisbon for the final presentation.

During the final session, all the students, including the ones from NOVA’s partner university — who had attended the course remotely — had the opportunity to present their final business-oriented projects in person to a panel of experts and investors in the field of the sustainable blue economy.

This experience, the first of its kind at NOVA, reinforced the transnational and collaborative nature of EUTOPIA, fostering a sense of belonging to the alliance and promoting academic exchange between partner institutions.
