The Fulbright Program, administered in more than 150 countries, was created in the United States in 1946 by Senator J. William Fulbright. The programme’s goal is to promote the sharing of ideas and the search for solutions to global problems through the international exchange of students and professors.
In Portugal, the programme is administered by the Fulbright Commission, which has awarded grants to Portuguese and American students and researchers in various fields every year since its inception in 1960.
