NOVA celebrates World Philosophy Day with award for doctoral research

20 de November, 2025

NOVA University Lisbon marks a special achievement today: Yolanda Xavier, a student in the Doctoral Programme in Linguistics, has won the 16th Idea Puzzle Prize, which recognises the most coherent doctoral research design created using the Idea Puzzle software during a training session promoted by NOVA Doctoral School.

The award-winning project, entitled “Language attitudes towards non-native speech: The case of employment scenarios in Portugal”, is supervised by Professor Susana Mesquita de Deus Correia, of NOVA FCSH.

The choice of World Philosophy Day, celebrated on the initiative of UNESCO, is symbolic: the Idea Puzzle software is inspired by the philosophy of science, and this date highlights the importance of critical thinking, tolerance and intercultural dialogue – values that also guide scientific research.
