The top score of Excellent was given to 65% of the NOVA research units.
NOVA University Lisbon leads the results of the R&D Units Evaluation recently published by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) with 65% of its research units receiving the maximum score of Excellent, a figure well above the national average which is 31%, thus being the only university in which more than half of its centres had that classification.
This evaluation exercise was carried out with the participation of international evaluators of high competence and scientific experience who analyzed the applications and visited the 348 competing R&D units. The total funding to be allocated by FCT amounts to 420 M € for the period 2020-2023.
“We are very pleased with these results, which reflect the quality of the research carried out by NOVA University Lisbon, the scientific merit of its researchers and the respective international and national recognition as a result of NOVA’s commitment to one of its most important pillars: research “- comments the Vice-Rector, Professor Elvira Fortunato, adding that” we know that we are on the right track in our role as a university determined to contribute to society and the world through knowledge. “
