Catarina Homem is among the 41 researchers distinguished by the institute.
Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) distinguished Catarina Homem, researcher at CEDOC – Centro de Estudos de Doenças Crónicas of NOVA Medical School – Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, as an International Research Scholar. This represents a funding of 650 thousand dollars for a period of five years to continue her research on Proliferation and Fate Regulation of Stem Cells Lab.
This program, created by HHMI, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation which is based on the philosophy “People, Not Projects”, selected 41 outstanding early career scientists around the world.
In Portugal, researchers Ana Domingos from Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência and Joseph Paton from Champalimaud Foundation were also selected by the program.
