Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and José de Mello Saúde establish a Consortium for research and teaching

The signature of a Consortium between Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and José de Mello Saáde took place on the 8th of March 2016. This Consortium, named “Tagus Academic Network for Knowledge” (TANK), links hospital practices with teaching and research.

The ceremony took place at NOVA’s Rectorate, in the presence of NOVA’s Rector, António Rendas, José de Mello Saáde President, Salvador de Mello, and Pedro Pita Barros, TANK’s Executive Council President.

The main objective of the ‘Tagus Academic Network for Knowledge’ is to enhance collaboration between both institutions. José de Mello Saáde and Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, through NOVA Medical School | Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, are long term partners in medical training.

Some classes of the course of Medicine, of NOVA Medical School | Faculdade de Ciências Médicas are already taught at CUF Health Units, in particular in the CUF Infante Santo Hospital, where a team of four doctors – two full professors and two auxiliary professors – and eight assistants who teach ENT, gastroenterology and pneumology. With the TANK Consortium the cooperation will be extended in other medical specialties.
