The new knowledge centre of NOVA School of Law, which will operate within CEDIS – Center for R&D on Law and Society – and will be naturally focused on Law, but born with a holistic vision and with the interdisciplinary vocation that is in the DNA of our Faculty, contributing to the fulfilment of major global goals, in particular Sustainable Development Goal 14 – Life under water -, in line with NOVA School of Law’s adherence to the United Nations Global Compact, the Blue Agenda of the European Union and the National Strategy for the Sea 2021-2030.
The NOVA OCEAN Knowledge Center is mainly based on the masters in law and Economics of the Sea, created in 2015, which has already developed important research work while promoting partnerships, internships and research visits. At the same time, it has already announced the launch of Ocean, a new degree on Oceans, considered innovative worldwide for its multidisciplinary character and that will take place in partnership with the University of Algarve – just waiting for accreditation by A3ES, the acronym for Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education.
Note that NOVA Law School is also the only higher education institution in Portugal to host the prestigious UN “The Nippon Foundation of Japan Fellowship Programme for Human Resources Development and Advancement of the Legal Order of the World’s Oceans”.
