QS World University Rankings recognises NOVA as one of the top 400 universities in the world. 

Universidade NOVA de Lisboa is ranked 366th in the world in the 2016/2017 edition of this ranking. In the first position in Portugal in the criteria of student and faculty internationalization, NOVA reflects its openness to the world and its capacity of attracting professors, researchers and students at a global level.

NOVA has steadily risen in this ranking since the 2011-2012 edition and occupies a position well above the global media. The ranking shows the top universities under 50 years old based on the highest performing young institutions in the QS World University Rankings® 2015/2016, where NOVA was already in, leading, at a national level, in employers reputation.

CWTS Leiden Ranking 2016

Universidade NOVA de Lisboa is the first Portuguese institution to be ranked above the average reference global media at the Leiden ranking and leads in Portugal, for the second year in a row, the impact of the scientific production (number of times a publication is cited).

NOVA leads, in Portugal, the areas of Life and Earth Sciences and Social sciences and Humanities, sharing ex-aequo the top position with Universidade do Minho in the area of Biomedical and Health Sciences.
