Welcome new SUPERNOVA students!

The SUPERNOVA Foundation Programme is a unique pre-university programme in Portugal, with an increasing number of candidates from all over the world.

A new great adventure is about to begin for the approximately 100 students of the Spring Semester of the SUPERNOVA Foundation Programme, who were welcomed here at the NOVA Rectory, on the Campolide campus, last Friday the 16th. In what is already considered the largest edition ever, there are students from 32 nationalities - Brazil, Angola, Ecuador, Mozambique, China, USA, Colombia and Ukraine.

As a multidisciplinary programme, the SUPERNOVA Foundation Programme offers a series of different subjects taught by NOVA, in Portuguese and/or English, to develop both academic and linguistic skills. It can also be completed in a period of between six months and one year.

Launched in 2018, SUPERNOVA is highly sought after by young people from countries such as Brazil and PALOP, but it has also received registrations from many other parts of the world - and the list is growing: India, USA, Russia, Morocco, Tunisia, Bangladesh, United Kingdom... The numbers also speak for themselves: a year and a half ago, 249 applications were received; the edition that is now starting has registered 323.

What is more, for a year now, successful participation in SUPERNOVA has been a guarantee of candidacy not only for courses at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa but also at several European universities that are partners of NOVA.

Those who complete the course will be able to apply to universities such as Ca' Foscari in Venice, CY Cergy in Paris, or Lancaster University in the UK. The University of Algarve, our partner in the south of Portugal, and the new NOVA campus in Cairo are also on the list.
