It was with extreme satisfaction that NOVA University Lisbon received the news of the election of Professor Luis Gomes Sambo as Chair of the Recognition Committee of the World Federation for Medical Education, on 13 February, 2023.
The Angolan medical doctor, specialist in public health and visiting professor at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine of NOVA, thereby finds recognised his valuable experience of more than four decades in health management, both in his country and internationally.
In 2012, when he was serving his second mandate as Regional Director of the World Health Organization for Africa, he was awarded the title of Doctor "honoris causa" by NOVA University Lisbon.
