Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (NOVA) is very effective in what concerns students’ mobility, inside and outside the European Union (EU). At national level, NOVA also participates in mobility programs that develop the connections between Portuguese universities.According to the origin of the students, NOVA offers different mobility opportunities:
The Almeida Garrett Programme offers the possibility of undergoing a period of study, an internship, or final projects in a national host university provided that such activities are part of the curriculum of the course at the home university, with full academic recognition.
Students interested in this programme should contact the mobility office at the faculty of NOVA directly to which they are applying, in order to provide all the information necessary to formalize the application.
For additional information, please contact the International Relations Office firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Erasmus Programme allows Student Mobilities for Studies (SMS) and Student Mobilities for Traineeship (SMT), with a duration from 3 up to 12 months per cycle of studies.
The candidate interested to apply for a mobility period, should be enroll as a student in a Higher European Institution. All didactic activity and information regarding the academic calendar are managed at a Faculty’s level. For this reason, the candidate must formalize the application with the International Relations Office (IRO) or the Erasmus Office of the Faculty of Interest.
For candidates from Swiss applying under the Swiss – European Mobility Program, they should contact the IRO of the Host Institution to check if there is a valid cooperation agreement between the Host Faculty/Host Institution and their Home Institution.
Students from non-European countries may participate/apply into a study mobility program in one of the 9 organic units of NOVA, through the following modalities:
Cooperation in the framework of General Cooperation Protocols / Contractual amendment signed between Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and other Higher Education Institutions (HEI).
Any questions related to the application process and execution of the mobility should be reported to the respective home Higher Education Institution (HEIs) of the candidate.
NOTE: Students must be enrolled at one of the subscribing HEIs of the Protocol / Contractual amendment.
We recommend to consult the effective Protocols.
The International Credit Mobility Programme Erasmus+ offers opportunities for students from other parts of the world (outside Europe). Through ICM, a HEI from a Partner Country can send students to a Partner HEI in one of the Programme Countries, and vice versa. The application and the selection process, as well as the assignation of the scholarship, will be managed by the Coordinating HEI. For more information on this program, we suggest to check the list of ICM scholarships’ opportunities.
NOVA has developed partnerships not only with European countries but also with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from USA, Japan, Australia, China, Thailand, India, Morocco and African Countries whose official language is Portuguese (PALOP), and has strengthened ties with South America, especially with Brazil and some other countries of Latin America, whose cultural and economic influence is increasingly strong.
NOVA offers excellent conditions to study and introduce incoming students to a different academic and social environment characterized by a wide exposure and a deep contact with the Portuguese culture. The quality of teaching, combined with the scenario of the multicultural and ineffable Lisbon, make NOVA unique inside the Portuguese context.
