Launched in 2015, the NOVA Music Band Competition is an annual initiative that aims to promote and encourage music among the NOVA student community, as well as encourage the growth of new bands in the Portuguese music scene.
The competition is open to individual musicians or bands made up of NOVA students or alumni (including Erasmus students and students from other mobility programmes), with the three bands performing at the end of the competition, where the winner is chosen by the jury and the public.
It is also linked to the Nova Música Festival, where some of the winners have performed or where the finals of the competition have taken place.
