NOVA welcomes the 1st Forum Portugal Against Violence
Reflect, share and work on several areas and on public policy measures to prevent and combat violence against women and domestic violence are the purposes of this initiative, organized by the Secretary of State of Citizenship and Equality, Rosa Monteiro, along with the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality.
While marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25th November), it is the purpose of this Forum to promote discussion and reflection on the new instruments of multisectoral intervention that have been recently produced, as well as their impacts on the ground.
The Rector of NOVA, Professor João Sàágua will attend the Forum making the opening remarks. The initiative involves officials and experts in the field of violence against women and domestic violence, including international speakers. Throughout the two days, it will be allowed contact with the various responses and instruments for combating and preventing domestic violence.
Since the foundation of the first National Observatory of Violence and Gender in 2008, NOVA has helped deepen the scientific knowledge on the dimensions of domestic and gender violence.
