Lisbon's University Medical Centre will be constituted on the 29th of July 2015, as a consortium between Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Central, E.P.E (CHLC) and NOVA Medical School|Faculdade de Ciências Médicas (NMS|FCM).
Academic medical centres represent, nowadays, one of the most modern and promissing forms of organization of integrated structures related to assistance, teaching and medical research, that have as a primary goal to advance and apply knowledge and scientific evidence to improve health. The adopted model is based on the creation of tools that enable discussion, research and practical application of new instruments for clinical and academic governance, to develop innovative areas. This way, it is intended to acquire basis and knowledge that, once tested and developed in theoretical and academic models, can be translated into healthcare improvement.
