NOVA participates in the creation of UNESCO Center for Advanced Training in Portuguese

As seis principais Escolas de Engenharia portuguesas unem-se para promover o reforço da formação e a contratação de investigadores doutorados provenientes de países de língua portuguesa.

NOVA University Lisbon, through NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA), participates in the Engineering Schools Consortium (CEE), which in the morning of July 24th signed collaboration protocols with the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Directorate General of Higher Education.

The protocols aim to promote the advanced training of scientists within the portuguese language community and to stimulate the progressive modernization and restructuring of engineering education in the European university context. These agreements result in the creation of the UNESCO Center, an initiative that will support the training of teachers and researchers in Portuguese-speaking countries and better enable them to meet the challenges of the future.

The ceremony was held at Thalia Theater with the presence of Minister Maria do Rosario Sambo of Angola, Minister Daurtarin Costa, Guinea-Bissau, Minister Maritza Rosabal Peña, Cape Verde and the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor from Portugal.

This event also officializes the CEE which brings together the main engineering schools in Portugal. In addition to FCT NOVA, the consortium also includes the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), the Technical Institute of the University of Lisbon (IST-UL), the School of Engineering of the University of Minho (EEUM) and the University of Aveiro (UA).
