NOVA leads Network for Sustainable Development in Portugal

NOVA University of Lisbon assumes presidency of SDSN Portugal, in search of innovative solutions to meet the Sustainable Development Goals

SDSN Portugal, led by Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, is now part of the global network of 55 organizations dedicated to promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) both locally and globally.

Officially launched on November 2, SDSN Portugal is a collaboration between Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, the Center for Engineering and Product Development (CEIIA) and the Instituto Marquês de Valle Flôr (IMVF). Its objective is clear: to shape the dialogue between academia, the public sector, the private sector and civil society, to promote sustainable solutions and to advise public policymakers based on evidence.

Júlia Seixas, president of SDSN Portugal, highlighted: "This will be an opportunity for Portuguese higher education institutions and knowledge and innovation centres to put solutions for sustainable development at the service of society, in partnership with all stakeholders."

With 11 member institutions already involved, SDSN Portugal is ready to lead the transformation towards a more sustainable future, contributing to the implementation of the SDGs in Portugal.

"From local to global, we will seek to contribute to the decision-making process, demonstrating the opportunity for solutions to decision-makers at the political, business and social levels, to encourage the necessary transformations", highlighted Júlia Seixas.
