In addition to being a professor at the Linguistics Department and a researcher at the Linguistics Center of the NOVA University of Lisbon (CLUNL) – Grammar & Text Group – Professor Teresa Brocardo leaves an undeniable mark, especially in the work she developed in the areas of History of the Portuguese Language and of Historical Linguistics.
She has always responded positively to all challenges involving decision-making in the management of the Faculty: she was President of the Pedagogical Council (2002-2005), on several occasions Coordinator of the Linguistics Department, and currently also Vice-President of the Scientific Council.
In the various tasks she performed, in the moments when she made difficult decisions, she was able to teach, with rigour and sympathy, how one should look at academic life. Available, rigorous, attentive and intervening, even when this intervention was silent but effective.
To family and friends, NOVA offers its deepest condolences.
