Sciencepreneur: 2023 edition of the programme promoted by NOVA Impact selects two winning projects

Expose and Medieval were the winning projects of the programme aimed at NOVA scientists looking to create value from their research activities.

The most recent edition of Sciencepreneur ended with not one, but two winners, the “Expose” and “Medieval” projects.

The judging panel for the programme, sponsored by NOVA Impact - the innovation and value creation support office of NOVA University Lisbon - felt that both presented potential and exciting approaches to face some of the challenges in their respective domains.

"Expose" impressed the judges with a technology designed to combat absenteeism at work by combining dosimeters with the analysis of variables such as exposure to UV rays, humidity and temperature.

"Medieval" impressed the judges with its appreciation of knowledge and heritage by presenting the history of the Middle Ages very appealingly, thus promoting a deeper understanding of historical roots.

The two teams will receive equal incentives (€500) to stimulate the development of their projects.

Sciencepreneur is a programme aimed at NOVA scientists who want to create value from their research activities, i.e. benefits for the economy and society.

The programme started in 2020 and will run annually. It aims to develop entrepreneurial skills and competencies and to understand how to commercialise the technology/service or scientific discovery and develop a go-to-market strategy. It is also open to scientists who want to understand how to create value from their research, for example in public policy.
