“Investimento que Marca” 2021 is the name of the award given today to InnovPlantProtect (InPP) by Vida Rural.. The distinction, conferred by the editorial staff of the professional agribusiness magazine, highlights the most relevant investment in the last year in the agricultural and agro-industrial sector, at national level.
This award “rewards the initiative of the 12 founding partners to create an innovative institution to develop biological and digital solutions for crop protection”, underlines PedroFebruary, executive director of CoLab, adding: “It is an incentive for InnovPlantProtect, which was installed in a low-density region that managed to attract 38 highly qualified human resources to install a modern innovation unit. It also rewards the vision of the municipality of Elvas, which from the outset embraced this challenge.”
The “Investimento que Marca” 2021 award was given during the 8th edition of AgroIn – Annual Agribusiness Congress, organized by Vida Rural/ IFE.
InPP aims to develop innovative bio-based solutions to protect crops from pests and diseases, as well as providing diagnostic and monitoring services, contributing to the sustainability of agricultural systems. The priority focus of this collaborative laboratory is Mediterranean crops, in particular their protection against emerging pests and diseases associated with climate change, whose harmful effects are already visible in many countries, including Portugal.
Resulting from a project born within the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, InPP brings together a total of 12 members, in a public-private partnership that brings together academia, the companies Bayer Crop Science, Syngenta Crop Protection and Fertiprado, research centres, producer associations and the Municipality of Elvas, with the aim of promoting the competitiveness of the national agricultural sector.
