NOVA University Lisbon is awarding Gilberto Gil the title of Doctor Honoris Causa for his invaluable contribution to culture and citizenship, in the year it celebrates his 50th birthday.
In the days leading up to and following the ceremony, scheduled for October 31, the cycle Brasil na NOVA - homenagem a Gilberto Gil will present a series of concerts and initiatives aimed at reflecting on Gil's work and its repercussions within society and the university as a space for questioning.
The concert "Ventos do Brasil e de Portugal", on October 22, at 5pm, is the first in a cycle of Portuguese-Brazilian repertoire, the result of a collaboration between the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, the Center for the Study of Sociology and Musical Aesthetics (CESEM ) of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, and the Brazilian Embassy, and features a new arrangement of "Domingo no Parque", by Gilberto Gil, commissioned for the occasion by the Italian composer Aldo Brizzi.
