Nuno Severiano Teixeira, Professor at the Department of Political Studies at NOVA FCSH, will be the President of the Council for the Revision of the Strategic Concept for National Defense, created last week by the Government. Also appointed for this body are Ana Santos Pinto, Professor of International Relations at NOVA FCSH, Bernardo Pires de Lima, researcher at the Portuguese Institute of International Relations (IPRI-NOVA), and Carlos Gaspar, also from IPRI-NOVA.
In total, the Council for the Revision of the Strategic Concept for National Defense comprises 21 personalities, including military, academics, economists, ambassadors, jurists and former political leaders.
The Council will review the Strategic Concept for National Defense "given the need, identified in the Government Programme, to adapt national defense to the transformations in the geostrategic environment" and has until 31 January 2023 to present its first conclusions.
