NOVA at CAIRO

It is the first Portuguese institution to open a cross-border campus - and classes start as early as October 2022  

 

 

 

 

It is located in the region where the new capital of Egypt is being built, on the outskirts of Cairo, and is about to open its doors. First, with the Foundation Programme and, in the next academic year, other five different degrees from Nova SBE, FCT NOVA and NOVA IMS to be held for students of the first Portuguese campus built across borders.   

In partnership with an American institution, NOVA already had courses in operation - but now, and accepted the proposal put forward by the Portuguese embassy in Egypt, it will operate on campus with its name and a teaching method equal to the courses of the various schools of NOVA in Portugal. 

Starting September, a foundation year will present students with the method of the Portuguese university - in some cases, as already explained by the Vice-Rector for Education and International Development of NOVA, João Amaro de Matos, classes and exams, taught in English, will be given with the same content and at the same time, in Cairo and NOVA schools in Portugal.   

The agreement for the establishment of NOVA Cairo was signed on October 26th, 2021, in Cairo, by the Rector of NOVA, João Sàágua and the President of The Knowledge Hub Universities, Mahmoud Allam. The Ambassador of Portugal in Egypt, Manuela Franco, the Vice-Rector of NOVA, João Amaro de Matos, and other NOVA University Lisbon representatives witnessed the ceremony as well as Ahmed El Sewedy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Ihab Salama, CEO of El Sewedy Education and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
